Time flies like an arrow, Fruit flies like a banana

Now that we've hooked you in with that Bennett-worthy pun, we'd like to give you a photo-update of the past several months. Think you can handle it? Here we go!

November: Date night at the lantern festival. Believe it or not,
these amazing displays are all giant paper lanterns!
This one reminds Joy of home.
November: An American Thanksgiving Dinner.
We had some friends join us for the works! Turkey, stuffing,
mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, and even some pumpkin
pie. No...we didn't make it all. The U.S. Army base has a restaurant that caters!
November: An American Thanksgiving.
"How do you carve a turkey?"
"I don't know...Let's Google it."
Thank you, Butterball.com!
November: An American Thanksgiving
December: Date night in Myeongdong
December: Staff Christmas Dinner
Good food and good company...
I think we were pretending to laugh in this one...
December: Home for the holidays!
First stop, Illinois!
We celebrated a Parkhurst Christmas this year.
After Christmas, we took a trip to sunny South Florida for New Years.
January: GWAM team fun
Our Spring Break missions team got together for some fun and fellowship.
Here, our fellow leader, Heidi, is trying to get her team to guess the word "Woof!"
Day 2 of our GWAM team fun included a day of skiing.
Joy stayed home sick, but Bennett represented the Parkhurst family.

January: Spirit Week
Mismatch day
January: Spiritual Emphasis Week
The Matt Papa band came to YISS for the week.
February: Seoul Seekers
Our GWAM team ran a 5-week children's program in preparation
for our Spring Break missions trip to the Philippines.
We'll be leading a Vacation Bible School program there.
The theme for this year is God's word. God's word is comforting,
surprising, and life-changing.

February: Lunar New Year Potluck at the Way Church
We had a great time eating Korean food with our church friends.
We brought ziti. Not so Korean. ;)
February: Lunar New Year Potluck at the Way Church
Part of the fun involved a "getting-to-know-you" Bingo game.
February: Lunar New Year Potluck at the Way Church
Our friend Brad was nominated to demonstrate the hokey pokey.
That's what it's all about.
February: Lunar New Year Potluck at the Way Church
To decide who won a game, our Korean friends played another
game...This is kind of like a one-legged chicken fight.
Who can stay standing the longest?

February: Lunar New Year Potluck at the Way Church
Happy new year with rice cakes!

February: Lunar New Year Dumpling Making
Our Chinese coworker invited us to make dumplings with her and her family!
February: Lunar New Year Dumpling Making
They were delicious!

February: What is it?
February: It's beardless Bennett!
February: Mulan
We went to see the school musical.
Mushu stole the show!
March: Brunch
We had a fun time brunching with our friends from church.
March: Brunch
They were all surprised to see Bennett
cooking in the kitchen.

March: Brunch - aftermath
We forgot about the bacon! For 6 hours!
We were thankful that nothing caught on fire while we were at church...

March: A family from school hosted a dinner for the middle school and
high school teachers. What a treat!

March: The venue for the dinner had a beautiful view of the city!
However, it was too cold to stand outside to enjoy it for long...
March: At the dinner, a caricature artist
drew our picture.
Bennett is so strong! Joy has good balance...
If you made through all of that, you might be wondering, "What's next?"
Next Friday is the end of the 3rd quarter! It's also the day we leave for the Philippines with our GWAM team. (In case you'd like to know, "GWAM" stands for "Guardians with a Message.") We'll be in the Philippines for 6 days, leading a Vacation Bible School and ministering to people in the local parks and local hospital.

Well, that's all for now! We're off to cook some pancakes...

Love,
Ben and Joy

P.S. In case you didn't hear, we'll be in Korea for at least one more school year!
